I had the opportunity to visit Belgium during the Spring of 2007. It was an amazing trip, full of breath-taking countryside vistas, incredible cuisine and inspiring architecture.
The people of Belgium are very modern thinkers. They have to be. Geographically, Belgium is centrally located in Europe. Belgium has traditionally been an especially open country and was one of the original driving forces behind European unification. As the headquarters of the European Commission, the Council and many institutions linked to the EU, Brussels is most certainly entitled to call itself the capital of Europe. |
